Many factors influence the grower’s decision on how to run a 3-plant grow at home.
Monthly need
You can grow 500g per m² every 3 months — whether with one, three, or ten plants. Fewer plants mean longer grow times and higher risk per plant. Three smaller plants are often safer than one large one.
How many grows per year?
Many home growers achieve up to three harvests per year due to seasonal limitations, especially without air conditioning or dehumidifiers. Automation or a helping hand during vacations can extend your options.
Available space and environment
If space is limited, maximize yield per m². Separate drying or veg rooms allow for 4–5 cycles a year. For grow spaces under 1.5m², a tilted window is enough for airflow. Larger setups require a ventilation system that extracts air outside.
The right location
Choose a grow room where temperature stays stable (20–22°C). Use heaters below 20°C or AC above 22°C. LED lights add about 200W of heat per m².
Install an exhaust fan and carbon filter. Calculate the fan power by multiplying your tent’s volume by 60 (air exchanges per hour). Ventilation must run 24/7. For quiet operation, use dimmable EC fans and consider soundproofing.
Choose a rectangular grow box with less than 1 meter depth for better access to your plants. Grow tents are cheap and easy, while wooden boxes are visually appealing and durable.
Indoor growing consumes electricity. Lights and ventilation run many hours per day. Power calculations per m² help estimate costs.
